Be SMS Compliant With This Handy Checklist

Mobile is the new marketing medium. That you probably already knew, as you strive to make your email marketing program as effective on a tiny screen as a large one. Lucky for those of us in the industry, email solutions don’t have to adhere to a new set of regulations for mobile email marketing. The same rules apply.

But what about SMS? SMS isn’t simply email shrunk smaller like the mobile marketing referred to above. Marketing via text is a different ballgame, and that game does have a different set of rules and guidelines. You can find these clearly explained in two publications: Consumer Best Practices and the CSC Monitoring Compliance Handbook.

To easily make sure your SMS marketing is compliant, however, you can simply turn to the SMS Regulation Checklist pulled together by email service provider ExactTarget.

This checklist will keep you honest and on the up-and-up for all stages of SMS marketing, including program promotion, help messages, and ongoing messages. At only four pages, it’s easy to print out to have handy and even route through the office to the members of your SMS and email marketing team.

The best marketing is integrated marketing, with options for every channel your customers might prefer, be that SMS or mobile email or something else. Use this checklist to make sure your email solutions are up-to-date and compliant in both the inbox and the SMS folder.
